‘Rocky’ Statue in Philly Closes For Repairs

The statue and famous Philadelphia Museum of Art steps are two of the most popular attractions in the city.

The iconic Rocky statue in Philadelphia will be closed for two weeks while the tourist attraction undergoes repairs.

The statue and the “Rocky steps” — or rather the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps — are two of the most popular attractions in Philadelphia, according to visitphilly.com.

The city’s parks and recreation department told local news station Fox 29 that improvements being made include replacing paving and perimeter protection.

The Rocky statue was also off limits to visitors last month while the city held the NFL Draft, according to the station.

The statue was moved to its current location in 2006. Commissioned by star Sylvester Stallone in 1982 for a scene in Rocky III, the statue was donated to the city afterward and moved several times around the area, including atop of the famous stairs.
