M. Night’s Shyamalan’s Latest Update On Glass Is Super Cryptic,
Earlier this year, M. Night Shyamalan’s Split hit theaters and surprised fans of the director’s work with the reveal that the film takes place in the same universe as Unbreakable. Split was already a pretty good movie, but that reveal kicked up excitement big time. Shyamalan’s next project, Glass, will see the fruits of that labor twist as Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy are set to star. The director is busy working on a new draft of the script, and he recently teased its progress in just about the vaguest way possible.

M. Night Shyamalan is writing a new draft of Glass, and he revealed his current progress over on Twitter. In draft #3 of Glass, the director “looked through the character’s eyes” this time around, which probably means that he went inside his character’s head to better decide what they should do in the plot. Then he wrote that he was letting them “messy up the plot” however they like. I suppose that can be taken to mean he’s trying to have them make decisions based on emotion rather than plot, no matter how poor those decisions may be. In that sense, the script is less clean and more gritty.

It could also be taken to mean that he will let them get a little bloody. The Beast eats people for crying out loud, so it’s not like we should expect Glass to be candy-coated. Either way you want to take it, M. Night Shyamalan seems to be putting a lot of thought into how this next story plays out, which is only good news for all of us.

Unbreakable was M. Night Shyamalan’s first film following his massive success with The Sixth Sense. It starred Bruce Willis as a man who was literally unbreakable, able to survive any injury without ever taking a scratch. He’s found and urged to pursue heroics by a man named Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jackson), who suffers from an illness that makes him as brittle as glass (he turned out to be pretty evil). Split was a horror-thriller about a man (James McAvoy) who had dozens of alternate personalities living inside him — including one called The Beast, a super strong cannibal.

The premise of Glass will be Bruce Willis’ David Dunn facing off against The Beast, with Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Glass also factoring into the events. Not much else is known about the film, but after Split, people are definitely ready to see these characters again. Glass is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on January 18, 2019. There are bound to be plenty more updates and cryptic messages about the movie in the coming months, so make sure to keep checking back in with CinemaBlend for all the latest news.

M. Night Shyamalan’s next movie Glass will combine the characters of Unbreakable and Split, and we’re chomping at the bits for an update. Leave it to Shyamalan to make an update as cryptic as possible.
