See What Star Wars’ Massive Disney Theme Park Will Look Like,
Up until now, we’ve only had artistic renderings of what Star Wars Land will actually look like when it opens at both Disney Parks in 2019, and while construction is far from done, we now have our first real look at the real thing. Today at the D23 Expo, we got our next look at what Star Wars Land will really look like as a scale model of the entire area was unveiled for everybody to see. Check out the video below to get your first look at what the final world will look like.
While we’ve seen a handful of renderings of what the Star Wars Land will approximately look like, the model is in fact what the real park area will look like when it opens. While this model is specific to Disneyland, the Disney World version of the same area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is said to be mostly the same.
This image, which appears near the end of the video, appears to show one of the entrances to the land. At Disneyland, one entrance will exist near Critter Country, while two others will apparently exist near Frontierland and Fantasyland. Based on the size of the human models that we see here, we get a clear idea of the scope of the land as a whole. Not only does the new area take up some serious geography, but it’s vertical as well.
One interesting feature is this spacecraft sitting on the roof of one of the buildings. While the video doesn’t give us specifics we’re guessing this will mark the entrance of one of the two major new attractions that will be part of Star Wars Land. This one will put you right in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order.
The other major attraction will put guests in the cockpit of a much more recognizable space craft. We see it in the model as well. Everybody will get to feel what’s like to stand next to the Millennium Falcon, as a full sized model of the ship will be on display.
While it may be just a model, it’s clear that everything about Star Wars Land is going to be huge. The scope of it looks so big that we fully expect to feel that we’ve stepped foot on an alien planet. We’ll finally get our chance to do just that when Star Wars Land opens at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019.
