She’ll star alongside Benicio del Toro, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano in the eight-episode limited series.
Bonnie Hunt is joining the cast of Showtime’s Ben Stiller drama Escape at Dannemora.
She’s the latest actress to board the limited series starring Benicio del Toro, Patricia Arquette and Paul Dano. Executive produced and directed by Stiller, the eight-episode mini will tell the real-life story of Richard Matt (Del Toro) and David Sweat (Dano), two inmates who were discovered missing at the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility in New York in 2015 after being aided in their escape by a female prison employee. The escapes spawned a massive manhunt for the two convicted murderers.
Hunt, for her part, will play Catherine Leahy Scott, the New York State Inspector General who headed up the formal investigation of the escape of the prison inmates from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, N.Y Hunt was nominated for an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards for her lead role in ABC’s Life With Bonnie. Her other credits include Cheaper by the Dozen, Jerry Maguire, Bonnie, Beethoven and Rain Man, with voice work in the Cars, Monster’s Inc. and Toy Story franchises.
Dannemora, which began production in August at the actual locations in upstate New York, is Showtime’s next high-profile limited series. It will be written by Mad Men‘s Brett Johnson and Michael Tolkin (The Player), who met while working as writers on Showtime drama Ray Donovan. Johnson and Tolkin will also executive produce alongside Bryan Zuriff (Steve Jobs), Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Grey) via Michael De Luca Productions and Nicky Weinstock for Stiller’s Red Hour Productions.
